When a Wacky Warrior meets an American Warrior

Lee was invited to be a guest speaker at a symposium being held in North Carolina last Tuesday. In addition, Marcus Luttrell was also going to speak on Monday afternoon. Marcus is a retired Navy Seal and author of the best-selling book, “Lone Survivor.” Lee, Nick and I loved the book. Lee & Nick also […]

World Cancer Day & Check Writing Day

St. Baldrick’s has a message: Today is World Cancer Day. In the three minutes it takes to watch this video, a family somewhere in the world will hear:“Your child has cancer.”Watch this, then show your support. Let’s start the ripple effect that turns World Cancer Day into World Cancer Free Day. Wacky Warriors are showing […]

First Descents Climb-a-thon

A few members of our family have signed up for the upcoming Climb-a-thon hosted in several cities across the nation by Team First Descents on March 2nd, 2013.  Before Lee comes up with something crazy to do next, we thought this would be fun!  We will be missing the ball this year and our schedule does not […]

From two runner’s perspective…

THE GOOFY By Paul Anderson When Lee Brower first suggested running a half marathon followed by a full marathon on back to back days, I thought he was crazy and wished him well.  Then he suggested we prepare for the event by running a half marathon each month from April till January; I thought he’d […]

The Wacky Goofy

Friday morning, 6:30 a.m. Kelsey and I began the 5k.  Friday morning, 6:31 a.m. Kelsey ran off without me.  It was fun to see so many people running dressed up, especially  Cinderella.  You couldn’t help but think she was late and in big trouble.   It was also kind of cool to see Lee at the […]

Nearing the Finish Line

Lee, Dave & Paul successfully ran in the Hoover Dam half marathon last week leaving them with only the Wacky Goofy left to finish! If the actual training doesn’t handicap them, they will make to Orlando next month – in twenty three days, to be exact!

Newtown

I have been compiling a few ideas over the past few weeks: YouTube videos with highly impactful messages for battling childhood cancer; inspiring quotes from those I admire and respect; requests for prayers for those being affected by cancer, etc.  Then came the Newtown tragedy and all my intentions flew right out of my head […]

There before the grace of God, go I…

This posting is a little late – I started taking a daily multivitamin earlier in the week and subsequently caught the mother of all colds.  I’m throwing the vitamins off a bridge. The Honored Hero Run was an amazing event!  Dave Van Buskirk, along with his adorable wife, Julie and his extremely competent staff pulled […]

Nick’s Wacky Warriors Courage Award

As Lee, Paul & Dave continue with their Wacky Goofy training, they participated in the Utah Marathon held last weekend in Salt Lake City.  Their training required a 15-mile run so they chugged on another 3 miles after completing the half marathon.  It’s disturbing.  I, however, bundled up with my trusty wagon, folding chair and […]

I Love October

I really do – college and pro football is  nearing it’s halfway mark; basketball is just starting; the MLB playoffs have begun; and there is nothing like watching softball games in the fall, especially in Utah with the stunning colors surrounding the fields. But the color of pink is already starting to annoy me.  I’ve […]
