World Cancer Day & Check Writing Day

St. Baldrick’s has a message:

Today is World Cancer Day.
In the three minutes it takes to watch this video,
a family somewhere in the world will hear:“Your child has cancer.”Watch this, then show your support.
Let’s start the ripple effect that turns World Cancer Day
into World Cancer Free Day.

Wacky Warriors are showing their support big time!  We tipped over the $25,000 mark through YOUR generous contributions in support of the Wacky Goofy Challenge!  Over $12,000 alone was raised in the Wacky/Edward Jones event hosted in Dallas!  Today I wrote checks to the Leukemia & Lymphoma SocietyFirst Descents and CureSearch, donating the entire $25,000!

It is strange to have such a myriad of emotions as I sent these checks out today. There is humble gratitude as I acknowledge the  incredible network of Wacky Warriors joining our vision to fight cancer; there is a sense of urgency to HURRY as I read the latest updates on Vinny DiGerolamo, Bella Rodriguez-Torres, Matt Meiners (former FD’er) and Nick Reed’s family; there is steadfast determination to keep doing what we are doing; there is the ever-present sadness of missing my Nick; there is – let’s see, not pride, not accomplishment, not  happiness – but a sense of responsibility to be the voice for those young voices that aren’t being heard.  Ok, there is a little bit of a fist pump in the air with a resound, “Woot!  Woot!”

Thank you so much, you crazy Wacky Warriors!  Let’s keep it going!
