At the center of the annual WACKY Charity Softball Tournament is something truly unique.
Each team is paired with a local child or young adult from our community who is currently fighting cancer, in remission, or remembered as an angel.
These incredible kids are affectionately known as our Cancer Cuties.
This is where softball meets something far bigger.
Teams don’t just play for their Cancer Cuties — they celebrate them.
Players, coaches, parents, volunteers, umpires, and families are encouraged to amp up the silly factor and fully embrace the spirit of WACKY.
Crazy costumes, themed uniforms, playful antics, and joyful creativity are all part of the experience.
Laughter and levity intentionally meet courage and resilience.
Cancer Cuties and their families are right there with the teams — cheering, laughing, and becoming part of a community that uniquely blends the worlds of softball and pediatric cancer advocacy.
What emerges is something powerful:
This is where the WACKY Tournament moves beyond a sporting event — and becomes a shared, unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
WACKY Warriors was founded by Nick Raitt, a young man who understood the cancer journey firsthand. Diagnosed at 18 with a rare childhood cancer, Nick endured years of treatment with an unwavering desire to give back to others facing similar battles.
Inspired by his sisters’ love of competitive softball, Nick helped launch the first WACKY charity tournament in 2008 as a way to bring joy, community, and tangible support to kids and young adults fighting cancer.
Though Nick passed away in 2011 at the age of 22, his vision lives on — turning a softball tournament into a celebration of courage, laughter, and connection for families who need it most.
One of the most meaningful ways a corporate partner can support the WACKY Tournament is through our Matching Fund Sponsor opportunity.
Each team fundraises for their assigned Cancer Cutie. When a Matching Fund Sponsor steps in, those donations are matched dollar-for-dollar — instantly doubling the impact for each child and family.
This model does more than raise funds:
For sponsors, this is not just a contribution — it’s a multiplier.
Your support doesn’t just sponsor an event.
It gets matched, multiplied, and remembered.
We would love for your company to be the partner that makes that possible.
For organizations seeking to support a specific aspect of the tournament, we offer targeted sponsorships tied directly to operational and community needs:
Each opportunity includes recognition through signage, social media, and website visibility.
