Nick Raitt, founder of Wacky Warriors, lost his battle with cancer on June 2, 2011 at the age of 22. He was originally diagnosed in 2007 with stage IV alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare childhood cancer. He endured four years of intense and rigorous treatment including chemotherapy, radiation and various surgeries. Nick’s sisters, Carly and Kelsey, play(ed) competitive softball and inspired him to host our 1st charity softball tournament in 2008.
With an intense desire to give back in support of other cancer warriors (patients, survivors, doctors, nurses, volunteers…), he started his own foundation, Wacky Warriors, and chose to support charities dedicated to childhood cancer research and adventure camps for young adult cancer survivors.
(we still consider him to be in charge of everything we do)
