We’ve been talking quite a bit about First Descents lately and their amazing accomplishments. Now I would like to share some recent news about CureSearch, the other foundation we have supported wholeheartedly in prior years. Last week, they announced the following:
“CureSearch to Award Young Investigator Grants in 12 Areas of Children’s Cancer Representing the Highest Risk and Poorest Outcomes for Children with Cancer.
CureSearch for Children’s Cancer today announced 12 $100,000 grants for scientists focused on innovative research offering the greatest potential to design treatments and improve outcomes for children with difficult-to-treat cancers.”

What excites me so much is that Nick’s cancer, alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma – an extremely rare childhood cancer, is one of the rare cancers to be researched! As we have posted time and time again, childhood cancer receives less than 1% of all money raised for cancer research. Click here for some interesting statistics provided by People Against Childhood Cancer (although posted in 2010) with a disclaimer to state the intention is to validate the lack of funding for childhood cancer, not to discredit other foundations.
Wacky Warriors are proud to have supported CureSearch in the past and will continue to evaluate their performance for future consideration of additional donations.
Please consider joining our Wacky 5k team in the upcoming Ogden Marathon on May 19th (refer to “Events” for more information).
It’s happening… we are making a difference – together. Thank you!
